How to Store Your Flower Properly
September 3, 2026

Store cannabis flowers properly by sealing them in airtight glass containers and keeping them in a cool, dark place.
The Best Containers
Use glass: Airtight glass jars (like mason jars) are the gold standard because they do not affect taste or create static.
Avoid plastic: Plastic bags or containers cause static electricity that strips away trichomes (the crystals containing THC and flavor), and they let air seep through.
Match size to stash: Pick a jar that fits your amount of flower closely. Too much extra air inside the jar can dry out the buds.
Ideal Environment
Control temperature: Keep the storage area between 60°F and 70°F (15°C to 21°C). High heat destroys cannabinoids and terpenes (compounds that give cannabis its smell and effect). [1, 2, 3]
Block light: UV rays from sunlight break down THC very quickly. Always place your containers in a dark drawer, box, or cupboard.
Manage humidity: Keep relative humidity between 55% and 62%. If it is too dry, the flower turns to dust; if it is too wet, mold grows. Two-way humidity control packs help maintain this sweet spot.
Skip the fridge or freezer: Standard refrigerators and freezers cause changing moisture levels and humidity swings that ruin the flower and make trichomes brittle.
Habits for Longevity
Grind only as needed: Grind your flowers right before use, as pre-ground cannabis loses its freshness and dries out fast.
Open rarely: Only open your storage jar when taking out a new supply to limit fresh oxygen exposure.
